E-Sports is gaining ground as one of the fastest growing movements in education at the moment. eSports is pushing for full recognition alongside traditional sports as feature of most school co-curricular programs. There are many claims made on its behalf – problem solving, hand-eye coordination, and even the development of social skills. This seminar examines the potential benefits and pitfalls of an eSports program within a school, and suggests some key questions to guide the development of an esports policy within a school.

Doug Zylstra

Doug is currently the Assistant Campus Principal at Pacific Coast Christian School and Group Director of Educational Technologies.

He has over 20 years experience as a teacher and leader across three different countries. Doug is a teacher of English and History and recently embarked on Doctoral studies in Digital Assessment for Learning. He lives in Tweed Heads with wife Alison, and four children.
